the use of a word in different senses for specific effect; a pun<\/p>\n<p class=\"prose\"><em>As the blade fell and he closed his eyes for the last time, he wondered again if the name &#8220;Beaver Cleaver&#8221; was a conscious <\/em>paronomasia<em> on the part of the writers.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>6. <strong>pilcrow<\/strong> &#8212; paragraph mark<\/p>\n<p class=\"prose\"><em>Reading the article in <\/em>Rolling Stone<em> magazine was difficult, as instead of new lines and tabs the paragraphs were separated by <\/em>pilcrows<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>7. <strong>dower<\/strong> &#8212; natural gift<\/p>\n<p class=\"prose\"><em>The unaffected smile is the real <\/em>dower<em> of young children.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>8. <strong>respite<\/strong> &#8212; a period of relief<\/p>\n<p class=\"prose\"><em>The need for Ultraman to fly to the sun to re-energize gave the monster a brief <\/em>respite<em> from the robot hero&#8217;s attacks.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>9. <strong>trituration<\/strong> &#8212; the reduction of a substance to a fine powder<\/p>\n<p class=\"prose\"><em>The hopeful presidential candidates were all too eager to undergo the <\/em>trituration<em> of the media.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>10. <strong>vermifuge<\/strong> &#8212;
