desolate\r\n<p class=\"prose\"><em>Emerging from the copse of trees we saw before us a <\/em>lorn<em> landscape of gloom, a meadow or marsh made from what had once been fruitful farmland, now returned to primeval mire.<\/em><\/p>\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n5. <strong>wuther<\/strong> \u2014 to blow, to bluster; to hurry\r\n<p class=\"prose\"><em>The frame of the one window had settled poorly, and the wind <\/em>wuthered<em> through the large gap all night.<\/em><\/p>\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n6. <strong>oriel<\/strong> \u2014 [<em>architecture<\/em>] bay window; protrusion from wall in which a bay window may be sited\r\n<p class=\"prose\"><em>Unusually, the <\/em>oriel<em> of the castle spans upwards across all four stories, with clever glasswork concealing each joint with the floors.<\/em><\/p>\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n7. <strong>turgor<\/strong> \u2014 swollenness; distention of plant cells\r\n<p class=\"prose\"><em>One assumes that his frequent headaches are due to the <\/em>turgor<em> of his self-confessed enormous brain.<\/em><\/p>\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n8. <strong>mootah<\/strong> \u2014 [<em>slang<\/em>] marijuana\r\n<p class=\"prose\"><em>&#8220;Billy,&#8221; she pleaded, &#8220;you said we&#8217;d smoke some <\/em>mootah<em> when I gave you the key.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n9. <strong>lituus<\/strong> \u2014 curved military horn\r\n<p class=\"prose\"><em>The standards were held high, the troops assembled, and as soon as the signal was given and the <\/em>lituii<em> sounded the force would march forth from the besieged redoubt.<\/em><\/p>\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n10. <strong>agenesis<\/strong> \u2014 failed or anomalous development of body or part;
